Mock up for both issues
The Front cover of issue one, features a long shot of a car and a model. The long shot adds a natural background to the cover, something that contrasts common magazines. The structure of the cover using gray boxes to distinguish text from image is commonly used by magazines such as GQ as an effective way of providing anchorage. The mast head at the top contrasts the calm blue of the background image with a contrasting red. Furthermore the colour pallet used is bold and striking making it appeal more to a youthful readership. The articles link on the front cover is positioned to the top left where it is the first thing a reader will see, due to left to right nature of Latin-ised languages. On the right there is the common breakdown of subsequent articles: this is to breakdown the main articles of the magazine to give the reader a complete understanding of what is in the magazine itself, and to also acts as partial anchors for the articles inside. At the bottom of the cover, there is a small box for additional sub articles and competition exclusives. This is to enhance an interaction in the viewership, either to boost magazine popularity or as a secondary method of viewership feedback.
The contents of issue 1 is a simple design, which follows the same ques as the front cover. The use of the mast head is uniform, however the image on the background has no model. This is purely so that all the readers attention is on the subheadings and information, the structure also allows for clear visible information to be printed.
To allow for an iconic design the second issue would be structures the same, however variations in background image, text layout and slight variation in pallet. Would enable the issues to be different enough from each other, whilst keeping an iconic design.
